What's The Difference Between? Wine Edition

Have you ever sat at a restaurant and questioned the different wine terms being flung from left to right? Fruity vs. earthy. Aged vs. young wine.

When it comes to wine terminology things get a little more deeper than red vs. white. Together we'll get to the bottom of some of the most complex wine terms before our rapidly approaching musical adventure arrives!

Fruity vs. Sweet

Opposite to popular belief, fruity wine doesn't mean a wine is sweet, it just means that it tastes a little bit like fruit. Sweet wine is as simple as it comes, a little extra sugar in the wine.

Young vs. Aged

Young wine isn't wine specifically for young people, it's wine freshly sealed and bottled up. Aged wine is a little more special, it's wine left in the bottle allowing for the flavours to deepen and the aroma to mature. We're drooling at the thought.

Sweet vs. Dry

We already know the difference between fruity and sweet, but what about the difference between sweet and dry? We'll need a calculator for this one.

A glass of dry wine isn't actually dry, it just means that it has less than 10 grams of sugar. If a glass has more than 30 grams we'll call it a sweet and tasty drop.

Are there any wine terms you'd like us to get to the bottom of for you?
